Can you recommend a good pediatric dr for ADHD etc? -

Thanks Cashcandy4 for the recommendation. I hope your move went well and that you are settled into your new digs.
We found a doctor in our insurance network, Dr. Shannon Shi, and hope to get things rolling with her soon. Had the oldest kid in ER this past week and outpatient surgery Friday so had to put calling Dr. Shi for the middle child on hold... But God is good all the time, and we will get back into our routine and be able to call Dr. Shi very soon!

about Dr. Gruzaski--she is awesome pediatrician. She really listens and follows through. twice my son has been ill and the answers were not "right there", and she was persistent to find answers. as far as psychologists with children, I would recommend Dr. Tom Rizzo. He is off Ogden near Washington in Naperville. I have a child who saw him and the area schools respect him. He is good with the kids. Hope this helps

Who carries boy's boot socks? -

Kara, then I'd hate to buy bigger boots! LOL! Adam, try supergluing the tops of your legs! Who needs waxing? On a serious note, Menards has boot sox with a very wide band at the top to keep them up. There is a rebate making them super cheap. Too bad they are adult size. When other kids are asking for electronics, my sweet boy asks for warm socks! I did get Star Wars Legos for him. Warms the heart if not the feet.

Neat idea! Mine take old computer print outs and make snowflakes but cutting notches, then twisting. Each snowflake takes six sheets of paper and makes a 3D snowflake. Very fun way to pass the time!

LOL Kara, you're about my daughters' ages! (31 and 30). The snow was deeper than you were tall at that time!

I rolled out a big sheet of butcher paper on the dining room table. The kids colored on it all week.
That's not all they did, but it was a consistent attraction for them.

I am 33 years old, so I was probably nice and warm in my pajamas with plastic feet.
I hated when they got worn and began to crack. My mom thought she was inventive by cutting off the feet when my legs grew longer.
She suggested to do the same with my kid's pjs...

Who remembers the Blizzard of '79? I came from Cave City, KY to Moline, IL for my mother's funeral. She was buried on Jan 11, 1979 and it was snowing so hard we could barely see going to the cemetery. We went back to my aunt's house in East Moline. The next morning, we couldn't get any doors open so we pushed my cousin out the window. There was a total of 42" of snow on the ground as of that day. I missed two weeks of college because the Interstates were closed at the Illinois/KY border!
What are your memories of that storm?

Hey all, we found that Lizzardo's Lapidery (rocks and gem) Museum in Elmhurst is free on Fridays, and well worth the drive! But there is a good option to part with your money in the gift shop!

Who knew such a simple Christmas request would be so difficult to fulfill?
My 4th grade grandson wants bootsocks and in past years I have picked them up at discount retailers for less than $5 per pair. This year I'm only finding the high performance type for over $10. Help!

Nate just got home serving his second tour in Iraq. He is a first lieutenant in the National Guard. He LOVES the Utah Utes so much, and if enough people like his video on the Utah Athletics page, he will get to go to the bowl game in Texas. Because he was serving, he wasn't able to see ANY Ute games this year and this is their first season in the Pac 12. This would be the best welcome home present for him and he deserves it so much.
Thank you so much. Nate would love this so much. The voting ends on Sunday at midnight or early Monday morning. I'm not exactly sure. :-) Please pass this along too.
Please go to the University of Utah Athletics Facebook page and "like" it. Scroll down on the front page/wall and "like" the video titled "Utah's Veteran - 1st Lieutenant Nathan.wmv". You don't even have to watch it - though you could. :-) And that's it.

I have an amazing reading specialist in Naperville near Washington and Diel. She speciailizes in determinite whether children are add or kinesthetic learners. My son is a 7th grader and we've been seeing her for about a year now. He's gone from a kindergarden reading level to about a 3rd grade reading level. I think it's worth a shot. You can google the National Reading Diagnostic Institute.

Your Favorite Holiday Happenings? -

What holiday happenings do you recommend for a family outing? Here's a couple of our favorites!
Now through Jan 8, the Holiday Train exhibit is running in the visitor's center at Morton Arboretum. Each year is a different theme. This exhibit is free with regular admission, but you must get "tickets" so they can limit the capacity in the room. There is usually no more than a 30 minute wait, and plenty to do while you wait!
Saturday December 10 and Sunday December 11 is Cantigny's annual Lego train show in their visitor's center; again, included with regular admission. Many of the Lego train exhibitors have a whimsical sense of humor, and their lay-outs will mingle with the adjacent person, resulting in some pretty hilarious mash-ups, such as Jurassic park dinos breaking through into a Star Wars exhibit, while droids wander to the adjacent McDonalds lay-out, with Princess Leah chained out from of McD's! Meanwhile trains are running all through this gigantic multi-level lay-out. Such fun!

I just want to pass the word around that there is an amazing program taking off in our area and this is the time to get in-don't miss the chance. Its kids sports:Cheer,Basketball, Football, Soccer, T-Ball and its called i9 Sports and you can look it up online at www.i9sports.com and you will see how if you sign your child 3-13 up for basketball or cheer this season you get to go to two pro events and participate. For example right now if you join and register for a program, u reserve a spot to the Harlem Globe Trottes Game and get to meet and play with them, and u also get the chance to go to an Arena Football game watch dance/cheer team practice and your child actuallyperforms there duringthe game! This league has 8 - 12 week sessions and throws in many free 1.5 hr clinics and super cute uniforms. It also allows payments so you don't have to come up with fee all at once. And lastly it is wise to the times and is flexible for example letting divorced people who can only come every other week pay half price! Check it out at www.i9spors.com (nw will region) or call or text me at 1-815-474-2500 or email tnice8@comcast.net. Don't miss this chance because the bigger it gets the less they will have to give away as they are now to build up!
